Script benchmark methodology

How Searchata collects, combines, and publishes service performance measurements.

Measurements

Searchata collects original measurements through Google PageSpeed Insights and Lighthouse. Tests measure transferred bytes and browser processing time for recognized third-party services. HTML script detection is kept separate from services observed during a browser test.

Crawls select up to three pages with different detected service combinations. Mobile and desktop tests remain separate. Where several sampled pages measure the same service, Searchata uses their median as one website contribution.

Publication

Each group contains at least 20 contributions from separate websites and workspaces. Repeated audits do not increase a website or workspace’s contribution within the same group. Results are grouped by month and Lighthouse major version. We publish rounded medians and 75th percentiles in complete sample batches.

Contributing websites, customer identifiers, script URLs, and individual measurements remain private. Individual contribution records expire within three calendar months.

Comparison limits

This is a selected sample of participating websites. It does not represent all websites. Consent settings, location, configuration, and test conditions can affect results. Processing time does not measure the exact page delay caused by a service. These tests do not establish how much faster a website would become after removal.
